2 Reasons to avoid Poker Software
The game of poker has gone through many transformations in recent years. One such transformation was the explosion of online poker. Advancements in technology meant the game could be played in the comfort of your own bedroom. Bye-bye smoky and dubious looking card rooms!
As online poker boomed some people decided to take advantage of this by creating software to help people play online. The legs of online poker were spread wide and out popped the Heads Up Display (HUD). Suddenly everybody knew how often you were raising, how often you were folding and everyone had a nice nickname.
But HUDs are not for everyone and here are two reasons why they might not be for you.
First there's the human factor. HUDs are getting better and better each year but they only help you play the cards. What HUDs cannot do is to tell you how to play the people. The HUD will not be able to tell you if your opponent has deliberately changed his or her strategy of whether or not they are on raging tilt. If you play free poker you may be missing out.
Secondly, you might get lazy. Poker is an observational game. You need to keep your eyes on the action so you can understand what is going on and where to find your edge. The HUDs make you lazy and instead of paying attention to what is actually happening you are asking your HUD to tell you. Just read point one to understand that HUDs do not understand the variation in a human's game.
